A slam dunk , also dunk or dunk shot , is a type of basketball shot that is performed when a player jumps in the air, controls the ball(s) above the horizontal plane of the rim, and scores by putting the ball directly through the basket with one or both hands. [1] This is considered a normal field goal attempt; if successful it is worth two points. Such a shot was known as a "dunk shot" [1] until the term "slam dunk" was coined by former Los Angeles Lakers announcer Chick Hearn . [2]

To dunk or to dip a biscuit or some other food means to submerge it into a beverage , especially tea , coffee , or milk. Dunking releases more flavour from confections by dissolving the sugars, [1] while also softening their texture. Dunking can be used to melt chocolate on biscuits to create a richer flavour.
